The Ecology Consultancy’s East Anglia office is situated in Norwich, Norfolk
Our East Anglia office is based in Norfolk and comprises a team of expert ecologists working on projects across the whole of East Anglia including Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Northamptonshire and beyond.
Twelve years of successful project delivery means that our ecological consultants have a clear understanding of the planning process, both locally and at a national level. Our knowledge and experience of many resource intensive and complex projects in conjunction with our ability to draw upon the availability of expert ecologist staff across our six regional offices allows us to deal with unusual issues and high-risk projects as well as provide a fast response to ensure work is completed on schedule. Our team are all industry experts, highly trained to help clients clearly understand what is required to achieve the best outcome for their project, whether large or small.
Our work ranges from small ecology surveys for single builds and barn conversions through to major urban extensions and housing developments, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), renewable energy installations and district-wide habitat surveys of designated sites.
As well as undertaking ecology surveys and preparing site assessments, we have an excellent track-record of preparing Environmental Statement chapters, providing advice on project master-planning and green infrastructure, protected species surveys and mitigation. We regularly form the ecology part of multi-disciplinary project teams for larger developments and readily engage in stakeholder liaison and community engagement on behalf of our clients.
Our East Anglia team undertake European Protected Species licensing and mitigation for a range of protected species including bats, dormice and great crested newts and are experienced in the latest ecological survey techniques. We regularly act as named ecologists on a range of European Protected Species Mitigation (EPSM) licences and keep up to date with the latest developments in licensing policy such that we are able to offer our clients the most appropriate, cost and time-efficient approach.
Our clients include both small and large scale house builders and sustainable property developers, planning consultants, architects, local authorities and statutory nature conservation organisations.
A significant area of our work has involved renewable energy schemes in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Northamptonshire and Scotland, from micro-turbines and solar energy installations to large wind farms, both on and offshore. Our in-house expertise has resulted in increasing engagement with statutory agencies such as Natural England.
As part of our efforts to better equip our clients with the skills they need to navigate the ecological requirements for their projects, we hold training and CPD sessions for a range of clients and local businesses based in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire focusing on how ecology fits within the construction industry and planning system. We have delivered in-house training days for national construction firms as part of their staff development programmes as well as presentations at local and national events and conference, for example Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Institute for Civil Engineers and RenewableUK.
We offer all our clients, new and existing, a free informal consultation to discuss forthcoming projects. We find this process helps our clients establish exactly what services are likely to be required from the outset, thus ensuring their projects have a smooth passage through the planning system. Contact us for a friendly chat over the phone or, if you prefer, book your free half hour slot at our Norwich office and we’ll talk over how we can help over cup of tea or coffee and the choice biscuit of the week! For those within an hour’s drive of Norwich, we’re also happy to drop by your offices.
'“TEC have been working on our wind farm project since 2010. Although I joined the project more recently, I am impressed with the range of ecological services they have provided over the years, including a delicate translocation project for reptiles, and working closely with Natural England to develop a satisfactory bat licence.
