Jane joined The Ecology Consultancy in October 2004 where, in addition to running an expanding office and keeping track of a growing workforce and its needs, she is also involved with writing fee proposals and tender documents, project management, co-ordination of resources and ensuring that a high standard of report production is maintained.
Jane and her team manage the day-to-day running of the London office. In addition, she is responsible for the personnel management of the company’s staff and also acts as Company Secretary for The Ecology Consultancy, taking minutes for the Executive Board and ensuring that the company’s details are kept up to date at Companies House. She is responsible for maintaining the information required for completion of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires and client specific, health and safety and quality questionnaires and updating the company’s policies and procedures in line with current legislation and good practice.

Having initially trained as a teacher Jane then spent several years working in a variety of administrative/support roles in the public and voluntary sectors including the London Wildlife Trust, where she first worked with John Newton, and the arts/environment charity Common Ground where in addition to running the office she acted as information officer providing support to community groups around the country. Jane had a particular involvement in the Orchards project and the promotion and development of Apple Day and is still keen to encourage the development and planting of Community Orchards using local varieties of fruit trees. She was also involved in the typesetting, layout, and proof reading of publications, liaised with printers and co-ordinated distribution to booksellers and other outlets.

Jane has experience of practical conservation through voluntary work with The Conservation Volunteers including: drystone walling, coppicing, scrub clearance, pond reclamation, hedging and fencing, and has also developed her knowledge of the environment and natural history through the Certificate in Ecology and Conservation from Birkbeck College and training with the Field Studies Council.
