Dan Robertson

Senior Ecologist
BSc, MSc, Grad CIEEM

Dan was initially inspired into embarking upon a career in consultancy after participating in monthly bat activity surveys to assess the impacts of night lighting levels at the London Wetland Centre, whilst studying for an MSc in Wild Animal Biology. Dan has now worked in consultancy for more than two years after gaining a certificate in ecological consultancy in 2012, through which he gained in-depth knowledge of all the key UK protected species and habitats required of a professional ecologist, whilst obtaining valuable fieldwork experience.

At The Ecology Consultancy, Dan has predominantly been involved with work on a large-scale, national infrastructure project, undertaking a wide range of protected species surveys. These have principally included surveys for reptiles, bats, dormice and great crested newts, the latter for which he is currently working towards obtaining a Natural England licence. He also works with badgers and riparian mammals. In recent months, Dan has gained experience of working on smaller scale projects that involve undertaking Phase 1 surveys, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and BREEAM/CfSH Assessments, which has enabled him to broaden his knowledge and understanding of the sector.
