Take a look back with us at our 21 years of making places better for people and wildlife

“Where did the time go?

For those of us who have been with The Ecology Consultancy from its early days, it’s hard to believe that we are now in our 21st year.

When John Newton started the company in 1999 working from his spare room he had no idea that we would grow to have 6 offices and the ability to offer our services across almost the whole of the UK. What he might have had more foresight of is our long-term involvement in major infrastructure projects, in particular HS2, given that one of the first jobs for The Ecology Consultancy was what is now known as HS1.

As we have grown we have also been able to expand our services, adding arboricultural consultancy in 2015, as well as adopting new survey techniques and developing innovative solutions to our clients’ problems. We look forward to further changes and improvements in the coming years.

While the type of projects we work on and the techniques we use have and are changing, one thing that has remained constant over the past two decades is our company culture. From the very start we have aimed to be a friendly, happy and supportive place to work, and to offer our clients professional, pragmatic solutions. Both have led to sustained and productive working relationships with many long-standing clients who have been with us for most of our 21 years.

We have worked hard to educate those that we work with so that they value wildlife and the environment as much as we do. We have developed a range of training initiatives, both internal and external, to improve the skills of our employees, clients and other interested parties. Over the years we have also tried to make a difference by contributing to voluntary projects, all of which reinforces our company mission statement – Making Places Better for People and Wildlife.

Of course, none of this would be possible without our amazing team, and now as part of Temple Group Management, we have the additional support of both Temple and Arbeco and can offer a much wider range of services.

We look forward to the next 21 years in the knowledge that we have a strong workforce to support our future.”
