Our first GIS Mapping for Ecologists course was held in London, in November, as part of our Professional Ecology Series. Ten enthusiastic participants with backgrounds in ecology attended the one-day course.
The course introduced participants to GIS and focussed on topics including GIS data models, GIS data management, the mapping process and the geographic inquiry process. The successful integration of GIS and ecology survey work was practically demonstrated using three interactive GIS exercises and a case study. Course leader, Corrado Cacciarru used his considerable experience in the field to provide lots of practical examples and answer additional questions.
Following the course we received some very useful feedback from participants and we will be incorporating suggestions into the course planned for next year’s programme.
We are working on the new programme for next year so watch this space for details of our Professional Ecology courses for 2015.
