John Newton Announces Retirement as MD
After 17 years of growing and managing The Ecology Consultancy I am stepping down at the end of September to head off into the retirement sunset. Well almost! I will be continuing to work as a Strategic Adviser to The Ecology Consultancy from October 2016 to March 2017.
In my place to take the company forward we have instituted a Leadership Team that comprises senior staff who have worked in the business for over 10 years and/or have been responsible for helping it to grow into the company it is today with 5 regional offices, 70 employees and a regular annual turnover of over £3m. I have every confidence that the Leadership Team will take the company on to great things in the future and will do so much more than just fill my boots. They already have plans for service and regional expansion, some of which is already in place with the launch of our new in-house Arboricultural Consultant Services and the recent expansion into the Midlands region with the launch of our new office in Stafford.
The Ecology Consultancy Leadership Team is:
- Tom McArthur - Technical Director (Operations)
- Giles Coe – Technical Director (Regions)
- Jon Riley – Technical Director (Technical Standards and Innovation)
- Jane Kendall - Head of Support Services
In the future we will be working even more closely with our sister company Temple Group to provide a broader range of services, which should also bring important benefits to all of our clients.
Mark Southwood, Chair of The Ecology Consultancy Board and Group CEO (of its owners Temple Group Management Ltd), will continue to take an active role in the organisation’s growth agenda.
It has been a real pleasure to work with a great team over the years, many of whom are still with the company. It’s also been an honour to work with so many clients who have trusted us to guide them through the various workings of biodiversity guidance and legislation, and engaged enthusiastically with the agenda to the benefit of their projects and their reputation.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the people we have worked with over the years for their support and friendship.
A couple of years ago we produced a booklet in celebration of our 15th anniversary and to look back on the history of the organisation, please see the link below. I hope you enjoy reading.
