In-house badger expert Sasha Dodsworth led an informative day of specialised training in badger survey techniques, culminating in an exacting task for our staff.
After learning about badger behaviour the staff group made a field trip to Waltham Abbey Gardens to survey the area of a large main sett, using their newly learned techniques to recognise the signs of badger activity. Sometimes this involved getting down to ‘badger level’!
The group also visited an artificial badger sett in Essex, constructed under the supervision of one of our ecologists last year. The new sett was designed to attract badgers away from an existing sett.
