Senior Ecologist Sarah Nicholas is bravely entering the Kaiser Challenge this weekend, having almost recovered from a back problem that prevented her from entering the marathon last year.
In memory of her friend Alex Kaiser (‘Kaiser’ to his mates) and to support the Cardiomyopathy Association, Sarah made some fantastic Tour de France-themed cakes and altogether has raised £150 towards the cause. See http://www.thekaiserchallenge.com/
“This weekend in honour of my friend Kaiser, who sadly passed away a few years ago, I am entering the third Kaiser Challenge in as many years, but only my second, as I unfortunately missed out last year due to a back injury. This year I’m pretty much back to fitness so I’ve signed up to help out”, said Sarah. “I will be doing a 1,200m swim, and then I will lead one of the five teams of Kaisers’ friends from north Bristol. We will be pedalling 80 km, including nearly 1000m of climbing, and at the end hopefully reaching an infamous Somerset-based cider farm run by a very jolly fellow, Mr Wilkins, and enjoying a much deserved cider!”
The cakes you missed included a sumptuous Guiness cake, delectable marshmallow crispies and vanillary yellow and green cupcakes, as demonstrated by Sarah and her delightful office dog, Hendricks.
