The new updated 2019 version of our Protected Species Survey and Mitigation Calendar has been designed to help you plan complex and timely survey and mitigation schedules. It contains detailed information about key species so you can make sure your works are carried out at the best time of the year, helping you avoid potential costly delays and ensure your development timeline is kept on track.

What’s inside?

  • Need-to-know information to help you avoid delays to your projects
  • Recommended and sub-optimal survey periods
  • Timings for habitat creation works
  • Two comprehensive calendars to help you plan - for ecology surveys, and for mitigation

Survey and mitigation advice

As the survey season is fast approaching it’s always advisable that you plan your surveys early and commission an ecologist during the beginning stages of development projects, as many protected species may only be active at certain times of year this means many survey types have to be undertaken accordingly.

Where there is an identified need for mitigation, either as part of a European Protected Species Mitigation (EPSM) licence or a Precautionary Method of Working, we have highly experienced ecologists on hand to advise and support at all stages. This includes preparing licence applications to Natural England and overseeing and implementing all mitigation works.

We have offices based throughout the country, all of which can offer local advice about planning surveys and mitigation and the timings that can be found within the calendar. You can reach your local office here: London, Sussex, Norfolk, Wakefield, Lichfield, Devon
