We generally employ a number of Field Ecologists to help with and carry out ecological surveys and mitigation on our larger contracts. We have the full complement for this 2014 survey season, but we shall be interested to hear from you in December as we plan the 2015 season.
These posts are usually based at our London office, but the project based nature of our work means that there will be a requirement to undertake such travel as is necessary to successfully carry out contracts.
The Field Ecologists will be involved in all areas of our work, including:
Undertaking bat surveys (including building, tree and activity surveys),
Trapping and translocation of reptiles and amphibians,
Supervision of works close to features supporting protected species including badger, otter and water vole,
Ecological Watching Brief,
Completing weekly reports for review,
Collating timesheets and assisting with accounts administration,
Constant review of environmental design drawings against the actual situation on the ground, e.g. the location of fence lines and habitat manipulation, and regular communication of this information with the client,
Providing support to the Ecology Consultancy management team
Co-ordination of other ecological projects as required including arranging surveys, collection of data, supervision and reporting.
Person specification
Essential
You will have experience in at least one of the following
Bat surveys (minimum 3 months); or
GCN surveys; or
Other mammal surveys; or
Reptile surveys.
Desirable
A great crested newt survey licence would be an advantage;
Experience with other species groups would be an advantage as would the ability to identify habitats and indicator plant species;
Bat sound analysis skills;
CIEEM Graduate or Associate Membership.
What do we offer?
6-8 month fixed term or casual hourly contracts from mid-March to mid-October.
Starting salary £18,600.00 pa (£8.94 ph) based on a 40 hour week.
28 days holiday inclusive of public holidays (pro rata for length of service)
