The East Anglia office of The Ecology Consultancy undertook a review of approximately 400 existing and candidate Local Wildlife Sites in Lincolnshire.
As part of the review in East Lindsey, The Ecology Consultancy was also required to carry out a desk study to identify new potential wildlife sites across the district resulting in 77 additional sites being surveyed.
We recorded many interesting species and habitats during the surveys including ancient woodland, heathland, species-rich grassland and aquatic habitats which were then evaluated against Local Wildlife Site selection criteria.
So far more than half of the sites surveyed met one or more of the Local Wildlife Site selection criteria and were put forward for consideration by the Local Wildlife Sites Panel. We attended Local Wildlife Sites Panel meetings and our reports will form part of the evidence base for the Local Development Frameworks for North Kesteven and East Lindsey District Councils.
