Biodiversity at Chobham Manor

Chobham Manor, London, BREEAM Assessments

Client: Taylor Wimpey

Objective: Landscape Strategy, Green Infrastructure and Code and BREEAM assessments

Meeting London Olympic biodiversity targets at Chobham Manor

Taylor Wimpey and L&Q were appointed by the London Legacy Development Corporation to provide over 800 homes at Chobham Manor, the first residential neighbourhood at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, east London. As part of the Olympic legacy, the neighbourhood must meet Biodiversity Action Plan targets, including compensatory habitat for species-rich brownfield and new urban wetlands.

BREEAM Assessment

Taylor Wimpey commissioned The Ecology Consultancy as part of a team working on the Landscape Strategy and Green Infrastructure Statement. Further collaborative work (with PRP Architects and The Green Infrastructure Company) included Code and BREEAM Assessment, green roof specification and an overarching landscape management plan, plus training with L&Q to ensure delivery on the ground and maximisation of resources such as the community orchard.

“The Ecology Consultancy’s innovative and collaborative approach has enabled Biodiversity Action Plan and sustainability targets to be easily met for the benefit of Taylor Wimpey and residents.” Peter Goddard, Technical Manager, Taylor Wimpey
