Education

The Ecology Consultancy has worked on a range of private and local authority education projects including schools and university campuses

We offer a bespoke service unique to each particular project but drawing on experience gained from working on schools and other education development projects. We have worked with a number of universities to carry out biodiversity audits and provide biodiversity strategies in order to maintain and enhance the biodiversity for new developments on campus. In consultation with local stakeholders, and the local authority, we have made recommendations with reference to priority habitats and species and the local authority biodiversity strategies, including habitat enhancements such as green roofs and walls.

Our ecologists have extensive experience in the education sector and can provide a wide range of extra services in addition to biodiversity audits and the standard surveys and assessments.

One of our strengths lies in delivering classroom and field-based projects that involve the students and staff in the construction project being undertaken at their school. These can be run as separate ecology sessions or as part of any education work the building contractor might be running at the school. Our school educational programmes have been well received by both teachers and pupils.

Our Services include:

  • Habitat surveys
  • Biodiversity audits
  • Mitigation work
  • Species translocations
  • Habitat enhancements
  • Management plans
  • BREEAM assessments
  • Protected species work
  • Pupil and staff consultations
  • Ecology education programmes
