Our ecologists Vicky and Dan almost trod on a hedgehog well-hidden amongst leaf-litter, whilst on a dusk bat survey in Canterbury. The hedgehog ‘played possum’ whilst Vicky moved it to safety. During their bat survey they recorded brown long-eared bats and pipistrelles emerging from buildings. As they left, a tawny owl flew right past them, leaving the site for its nocturnal foraging expedition.
