Dr. Sarah Yarwood-Lovett, Senior Ecologist, was invited by Natural England (NE) to give our excellent Bat Briefing, in collaboration with Kelly Gunnell from the Bat Conservation Trust. Sarah is a licensed bat ecologist at the Ecology Consultancy and Kelly Gunnell is the Built Environment Officer for BCT.
The day was an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences relating to bat survey techniques, planning and licensing processes, engaging the public and effective mitigation measures for different bat species, which is currently being informed by emerging research.
The meeting took place at the NE London office as part of the London Ideal Bat Show and will be reported in the Natural England Regulation Newsletter, which is due out at the end of November.
The event was well-attended, with representatives from 20 different organisations: most attendees requested further similar sessions.
