GIS Technician

What does the GIS Technician do?

Our GIS/IT team produce high-quality plans, including Environmental/Ecological maps showing the results of field survey. The GIS technician will support the GIS staff as well as the ecologists to ensure that all mapping in our reports and publications is to a consistently high standard, and will assist in producing tutorial documents, graphs, diagrams and presentations, including guidelines for GIS and project management. You will be willing to undertake other duties as may be reasonably required and to work as part of a team to contribute to the efficiency of The Ecology Consultancy.

The post will be based in our London office.

Person specification
You will have

  • An appropriate degree (desirable but not essential)
  • Thorough knowledge of GIS with extensive knowledge of ArcView GIS 10 software.
  • IT skills and knowledge of MS Office, MS Access, MS Visio and Windows SharePoint services.
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in ecology

What do we offer?
  • Starting salary on a scale: £21,240 - £28,367 (depending on qualifications and experience)
