Sam is an ecologist with over three years’ experience in consultancy. His main areas of expertise are carrying out Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA) and producing technical reports to support planning applications for a range of projects from large-scale residential schemes to small-scale renewable energy, commercial and housing developments.
Sam also has experience in a wide range of protected species surveys including badger, bat, reptile and great crested newt, the latter for which he holds a Natural England Class 1 survey licence. He is also experienced in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of highly complex survey data, most recently for a site containing 98 distinct bat roosts.
Sam has also assisted in the preparation of European Protected Species Mitigation (EPSM) licenses for bats and great crested newts and has been involved in several large-scale reptile and great crested newt mitigation projects from mitigation design to species translocation and Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW).
